Job Description

An accomplished maternal-child health leader can make a visible impact in this Manager, RN, Labor and Delivery and Mom/Baby opportunity with an established acute care hospital on California's Central Coast. This role offers meaningful authority across the maternity continuum, pairing hands-on nursing leadership with the strategic influence to strengthen care delivery, develop teams, and advance outcomes for mothers and newborns.

The healthcare organization provides an environment where experienced leaders can remain close to clinical practice while benefiting from accessible executive support and strong interdisciplinary relationships. A culture centered on clinician autonomy and collaborative decision-making supports thoughtful change, staffing continuity, structured onboarding, and long-term leadership growth without unnecessary layers between ideas and action.

The Manager, RN, Labor and Delivery and Mom/Baby will assume leadership of Labor & Delivery and postpartum services, with oversight of maternal and newborn nursing teams across the OB, mother-baby, and maternity care continuum. This women's services leadership opportunity combines clinical operations leadership with staffing support, workflow management, patient safety, quality improvement, staff development, and mentorship. Working within a collaborative OB and physician environment, the RN Manager will coordinate interdisciplinary care, guide daily operational decisions, and strengthen community-focused maternity care. The scope offers clear ownership of nursing practice and the opportunity to improve maternal and newborn outcomes within an established acute care setting.

Reporting through the hospital's senior nursing leadership structure, this leader will receive executive sponsorship while partnering closely with obstetric providers, nursing leaders, and ancillary departments. Primary responsibilities include workforce planning, performance management, regulatory readiness, resource stewardship, service-line coordination, and the consistent translation of organizational priorities into bedside practice. The successful leader will bring visible, accountable leadership to both units while building trust with physicians and helping frontline nurses grow into increasingly capable clinicians and future leaders.

California's Central Coast offers a distinctive balance of professional opportunity and everyday quality of life. Residents enjoy a temperate climate, coastal recreation, hiking, local dining, arts and cultural experiences, and welcoming communities suited to a range of lifestyles. Compared with larger California metropolitan areas, the region can provide a more relaxed pace and manageable commute while preserving access to beaches, open space, family-friendly amenities, and year-round outdoor activity. 🌊

The hospital will offer competitive compensation aligned with experience and internal parameters, along with a comprehensive executive healthcare benefits package that may include medical coverage, retirement programs, paid time off, continuing education support, and leadership development resources. Experienced Labor and Delivery or Mom/Baby nurse leaders who are ready for broader operational influence are encouraged to explore the Manager, RN, Labor and Delivery and Mom/Baby role through a confidential conversation with a Clinical Management Consultants recruiter.
