Shift:
10:00a.m. to 7:00p.m. Responsibilities The Residential Registered Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care and support to residents in a group home setting. This role focuses on maintaining the health, safety, and well-being of individuals with mental health conditions. The nurse collaborates with staff, families, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the delivery of high-quality care. Supervision of Adult Group Home Nurses Supervise/managing AGH nurses. Conducting routine meetings for medication education with staff. Conduct medication audits. Representing the nursing department in interdisciplinary meetings Serves on infection control committee for Hillcrest. Serves on pharmacy committee for Hillcrest. Collaborate with internal and external providers to advocate for clients. Conduct regular health assessments and record findings. Monitor and report changes in residents' physical or mental conditions. Administer prescribed medications and ensure proper documentation. Maintain accurate medication records and reconcile discrepancies. Educate staff and residents on medication purposes and potential side effects. Create and implement individualized care plans based on resident's needs. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to address health and wellness goals. Provide guidance to caregivers and staff on best practices for personal care. Educate residents on health maintenance and self-care strategies. Respond promptly to medical emergencies. Perform first aid and coordinate emergency services as necessary. Maintain detailed and accurate medical records in compliance with healthcare regulations. Ensure group home policies align with state and federal healthcare standards. Participate in the on-call rotation. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Education Associate or bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program
Experience:
Previous experience working in a group home or long-term care setting. Prior experience working with persons with mental illness.
Knowledge/Skills:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Compassionate and empathetic approach to client care. Proficient in medical record documentation and medication administration. Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams. Proficient in time management and EHR documentation. Knowledge of psychotropic medications, DSM-IV diagnosis, and co-occurring
Licenses/Certifications:
Mandatory Reporter of Child/Dependent Adult Abuse Certification or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire and every three (3) years thereafter required. Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Iowa with good standing pursuant to 655-Chapter 3.
