Job Description
HCA Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Charge Nurse RN for our Cardiac Care unit within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will coordinate patient care, provide clinical leadership to nursing staff, and ensure adherence to evidence-based practices. You will mentor team members, support cardiac procedures and monitoring, and collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams. Responsibilities Coordinate and oversee day-to-day clinical operations on the Cardiac Care unit, including patient flow, admissions, transfers, and discharges Serve as a clinical resource and role model for bedside nurses and support staff, providing real-time guidance and mentorship Assign and supervise nursing staff based on patient acuity and staff competency, ensuring safe staffing and workload balance Deliver and support evidence-based cardiac nursing care, including assessment, care planning, interventions, and evaluation for patients with acute and chronic cardiac conditions Monitor telemetry and other cardiac monitoring, respond promptly to changes in patient condition, and support rapid response and code events Ensure adherence to cardiac clinical protocols, core quality measures, infection prevention practices, and regulatory standards Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate comprehensive, patient-centered cardiac care Provide patient and family education on cardiac conditions, medications, procedures, lifestyle modifications, and discharge instructions Support orientation, onboarding, and precepting of new staff and students; contribute to performance feedback and coaching Participate in unit-based quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and shared governance activities to improve outcomes and experience Assist nurse leadership with staffing, scheduling input, resource utilization, and escalation of operational or safety concerns Promote a culture of compassion, teamwork, communication, and continuous learning consistent with HCA Healthcare values Required Skills Acute care cardiac nursing Telemetry and cardiac rhythm interpretation Cardiac assessment and hemodynamic monitoring Management of cardiac medications and titrations per protocol Post-cardiac procedure and post-cardiac surgery care Rapid response and code management support Care planning and clinical decision-making Charge nurse leadership and team coordination Staff assignment and delegation Patient and family cardiac education Interdisciplinary collaboration and communication Electronic health record (EHR) documentation Quality improvement and patient safety practices Time management and prioritization in high-acuity settings Regulatory and core measure compliance for cardiac care
