Position Summary Lorien Mount Airy is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) MDS Coordinator to lead and coordinate the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process, clinical reimbursement operations, and interdisciplinary care planning initiatives. In this role, you will collaborate closely with nursing leadership, therapy, social services, physicians, and care teams to ensure accurate resident assessments, maximize reimbursement opportunities, maintain regulatory compliance, and support exceptional resident outcomes. This position is ideal for an RN with experience in MDS assessments, Medicare reimbursement, PDPM, Medicaid case mix, clinical documentation review, and skilled nursing facility operations. MDS & RAI
Coordination Coordinate and complete MDS assessments in accordance with federal and state regulations Ensure accuracy and timeliness of all Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) processes Complete comprehensive resident assessments and Care Area Assessments (CAA) Monitor assessment schedules and submission deadlines Clinical Reimbursement Management Oversee Medicare PPS and Medicaid reimbursement processes Support PDPM and case mix optimization efforts Review clinical documentation to ensure reimbursement accuracy Identify opportunities for improved reimbursement through compliant documentation practices Care Planning & Interdisciplinary Collaboration Facilitate interdisciplinary care plan meetings Partner with nursing, therapy, social services, dietary, and physicians Ensure care plans accurately reflect resident needs and clinical conditions Promote positive resident outcomes through collaborative care planning Quality & Regulatory Compliance Maintain compliance with CMS regulations and long-term care requirements Support survey readiness initiatives Monitor documentation for regulatory compliance and quality measures Assist leadership team with reimbursement and quality improvement initiatives QualificationsRequired Current Maryland Registered Nurse (RN) License in good standing Minimum two (2) years of experience as: MDS Coordinator Clinical Reimbursement Coordinator Resident Assessment Coordinator Long-Term Care RN Skilled Nursing Care Coordinator Strong knowledge of: Medicare
