Job Description

Premiere Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Travel Med Surg Charge Nurse to provide leadership and bedside care in acute care hospital settings. In this role, you will coordinate patient assignments, support and mentor unit nurses, and ensure high-quality, evidence-based care for diverse adult medical-surgical populations. You will collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams, oversee admissions and discharges, manage patient flow, and respond to emergencies. This travel position requires adaptability, strong communication, and a commitment to patient safety, regulatory compliance, and compassionate, culturally sensitive care. Responsibilities Provide leadership and oversight for medical-surgical nursing staff on assigned units Coordinate patient assignments, admissions, discharges, and patient flow Deliver direct bedside care to adult med-surg patients using evidence-based practices Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams on care plans Monitor patient status, interpret clinical data, and escalate changes promptly Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements Precept, mentor, and support unit nurses and travelers Document care accurately in the electronic health record Participate in patient and family education and discharge planning Adapt quickly to new hospital environments, workflows, and technologies Required Skills Medical-surgical nursing Charge nurse leadership Patient assessment and monitoring Care coordination and patient flow management Acute care clinical skills (IV therapy, wound care, telemetry) Electronic health records (EHR) documentation Interdisciplinary team collaboration Patient and family education Regulatory and safety compliance Time management and prioritization
