Position Summary The Pre/ Post Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, coordination, and management of the surgical services department. This role promotes and restores patients' health through effective day-to-day operations management, long-term planning, staff development, and collaboration with physicians and multidisciplinary teams. The Peri-Operative Manager ensures high-quality patient care while maintaining regulatory compliance, safety standards, and operational efficiency in a fast-paced surgical environment. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Operations Direct and oversee daily perioperative nursing operations. Develop, implement, and enforce operational policies and procedures. Ensure appropriate staffing levels and coordinate coverage to maintain continuous operations. Facilitate staff scheduling, including planning lunch breaks while maintaining patient care coverage. Coordinate equipment and supply availability for scheduled surgical cases. Address and resolve staff conflicts when HR involvement is not required. Handle service provider performance concerns. Perform additional duties as assigned. Quality & Compliance Ensure compliance with state board of nursing regulations, nurse practice act requirements, and accrediting agencies. Develop, interpret, and enforce standards of care. Maintain and audit daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly quality logs. Create new quality logs when services or specialties are added. Conduct regular facility inspections and visual audits to identify non-compliance issues. Recommend policy, procedure, and documentation updates as services evolve. Ensure infection control practices and medication management standards are followed. Coordinate bio-medical engineering checks for new equipment. Oversee crash cart and malignant hyperthermia cart maintenance and audits. Ensure staff completion of required initial and annual training. Staff Development Coach, mentor, counsel, and evaluate nursing staff performance. Monitor and appraise job performance to maintain high standards of care. Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive workplace culture. Patient Care & Collaboration Foster a compassionate, patient-centered environment. Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to resolve patient care needs. Monitor patient documentation through regular audits. Support patient independence and family education. Maintain patient confidentiality and safeguard protected health information. Safety & Environment Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant surgical environment. Monitor equipment use and staff technique to ensure safety standards. Ensure durable medical equipment is available for upcoming cases. Communicate and enforce workplace safety precautions.
Experience & Skills:
Strong knowledge of perioperative services and surgical procedures Ability to anticipate surgeon and staff needs Excellent leadership, mentoring, and conflict resolution skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities Ability to multitask and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment Demonstrated ability to manage stress and make sound decisions under pressure
