NURSE MANAGER
Full Time This is a professional nursing position involving responsibility for giving care to students and for performing related nursing services such as pupil health screening and notification of defects and communicable disease control requiring judgment and skills. This position differs from the certified position of School Nurse-Teacher in that there is no responsibility for either classroom instruction or guidance involved. Supervision may be exercised over the work of clerical assistants.
Responsibilities Include:
Manages the nursing schedule to ensure all buildings and field trips have appropriate nursing coverage; Trains and mentors newly hired and substitute nurses; Coordinates with the school medical director's office to schedule in-district physicals for students & employees; Manages nursing staff to monitor for compliance with district policies and procedures related to school nursing; Consults with teachers, staff members, school nurses, and administrators concerning a variety of health factors related to non-attendance and communicable diseases; Educates staff as required related to medical conditions such as diabetes, anaphylaxis, and epilepsy; Coordinates the ordering of medical supplies and equipment for the district within the set budget; Serves as Nursing representative for the Health & Wellness Committee; Liaison between district administrators and school nurses; Performs other related duties as need.
Qualifications Required:
Graduation from a school of nursing approved by the State Education Department from a course approved by such department as qualifying for Registered Professional Nurse.
Special Requirement:
Eligibility for a license issued by the State of New York to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse. Possession of the license at the time of appointment. $78,000 - $80,000 commensurate with experience Civil Service Eligibility Required Job Category School Nurse Job Location District Wide
