Nurse Manager, Operating Room Role Overview The Nurse Manager leads a 24/7 Operating Room department, overseeing clinical operations, staffing, quality, patient safety, and team development across 16 surgical suites. This role drives operational excellence, supports high‑performing clinical teams, and partners with perioperative leadership to improve outcomes and efficiency. Eligible for sign‑on and relocation bonuses. Key ResponsibilitiesClinical & Operational Leadership OR Department Oversight — Lead daily operations for scheduled and emergency procedures, ensuring safe, efficient, and high‑quality care delivery. Team Leadership — Manage RNs, LPNs, Surgical Technologists, and Patient Care Assistants; set clear expectations and foster a culture of accountability and collaboration. Resource & Budget Management — Develop staffing plans, manage schedules and payroll practices, and oversee the annual operating budget. Talent Development & Performance Hiring & Coaching — Recruit, onboard, evaluate, and develop clinical staff; support continuing education and competency validation. Mentorship & Growth — Provide guidance to emerging leaders, including charge nurses and assistant nurse managers. Quality, Safety & Compliance Quality Improvement — Monitor patient satisfaction, clinical outcomes, and safety metrics; investigate concerns and implement corrective actions. Regulatory Compliance — Maintain policies, standards of care, and adherence to state, federal, and accreditation requirements. Interdisciplinary Collaboration — Partner with nursing, surgical, and anesthesia leadership to enhance workflows, throughput, and patient outcomes. Minimum Qualifications Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN required. 3+ years of OR RN experience (5+ preferred). 1+ year of progressive nursing leadership experience (Charge RN, Assistant Nurse Manager, Nurse Manager, or Service Line Coordinator). Active New York RN license and BLS certification. ACLS if required by service line. Nursing leadership certification preferred; must be obtained within two years of eligibility. Demonstrated strength in communication, conflict resolution, delegation, and performance improvement. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Nursing or related field. Experience leading perioperative teams or large clinical units. Proven ability to drive operational efficiency and quality outcomes.
