  • Our client is a well-established nonprofit organization providing comprehensive health, wellness, behavioral health, and community-based services to diverse populations throughout New York City.
  • We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) Nursing Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day nursing operations of a substance use disorder treatment program.
  • This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for managing nursing workflows, supporting clinical staff, overseeing medication processes, and addressing issues as they arise.
  • The ideal candidate will be an experienced RN with prior supervisory experience who is comfortable managing staff, answering clinical and operational questions, troubleshooting problems, and keeping the nursing function running smoothly in a fast-paced treatment environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily nursing operations and manage clinical workflows to ensure appropriate coverage and continuity of care.
  • Supervise and provide day-to-day support to RNs, LPNs, pharmacy technicians, and medical assistants.
  • Serve as a resource for nursing staff, answering questions and providing guidance on clinical and operational issues.
  • Manage medication inventory and ensure medications are appropriately tracked, stored, and maintained.
  • Address and follow up on medication errors, documentation concerns, and other clinical issues.
  • Troubleshoot day-to-day problems and respond to urgent situations as they arise.
  • Oversee medication management and administration practices in accordance with established policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Assess the medical needs of new and existing clients and coordinate outside medical care when appropriate.
  • Monitor the physical health needs of individuals receiving substance use disorder treatment and ancillary withdrawal services.
  • Develop and oversee client nursing care plans.
  • Coordinate medical appointments, referrals, and follow-up care.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary treatment team to ensure client medical and behavioral health needs are addressed.
  • Develop and maintain nursing staff schedules and assignments.
  • Participate in the Nursing Supervisor on-call rotation.
  • Assist with regulatory compliance and required reporting, including OASAS, DOH, DEA, and Justice Center requirements.
  • Conduct quality assurance audits and documentation reviews.
  • Support staff training, competency assessments, and required annual skills reviews.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential clinical documentation.
  • Perform additional supervisory and nursing responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • Previous nursing supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in substance use disorder, behavioral health, addiction treatment, or dual-diagnosis settings preferred.
  • Strong understanding of medication management and nursing operations.
  • Ability to effectively manage staff, workflows, and competing priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle urgent issues and challenging situations.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with electronic health records and standard computer-based programs.
