POSITION SUMMARY
The Executive Director is responsible for advancing the mission and vision as well as promoting, building, and sustaining the Nurses Peer Support Network (NPSN). The Executive Director will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of NPSN, advancing the mission and vision of NPSN, and growing participation in NPSN's services. Primary accountability will be to the Chair(s) of the Board of
NPSN. ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY
Mission:
To be Minnesota's leading peer‑support resource for nurses impacted by substance use disorder (SUD) and mental health concerns—offering compassionate connection, restoring hope, and empowering nurses to thrive. Through outreach, education, and evidence‑based practices, we strengthen the nursing community and advance a safer, healthier future for all.
Vision:
It is the vision of NPSN that all Minnesota Nurses will have access to confidential community-based peer support that promotes recovery from substance use disorder and fosters mental wellness in a compassionate and caring environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership and Management Partner with the Board of Directors and staff to develop and ensure implementation of tactics aligned with strategic goals set by the organization. Ensure that goals are updated at least annually and tracked at each Board meeting.

  •  Support fundraising initiatives in collaboration with the Board of Directors to help ensure financial sustainability; secure necessary resources (e.g. training, volunteers) to ensure fundraising strategies are successful.
  • Be an advocate for NPSN and its participants in conversations with donors and community members.
  • Support the governance function of the Board of Directors by providing meeting agendas, minutes, accurate financial reports, and informative updates on the status of NPSN. Volunteer Relations, Engagement, and Retention
  • Actively build positive relations with members of the Board of Directors, peer support group conveners, and volunteers, seeking out opportunities to get to know individuals and encouraging their ongoing participation and volunteer support of NPSN.
  • Coordinate and support effective communication between volunteers, committees, and the Board of Directors.
  • Attend committee meetings as appropriate. Community Outreach, Marketing, and Volunteer Recruitment
  • Work with the Board of Directors to establish and maintain effective community relations to build goodwill and understanding of NPSN and its mission.
  • Maintain a supply of up-to-date printed/electronic materials used for the promotion of NPSN's mission and groups.
  • Increase organizational resources by recruiting and managing relationships with community sponsors and partners. Staff and Volunteer Management
  • Recruit, hire, and retain staff, as authorized by the Board of Directors, if applicable.
  • Set and monitor measurable goals for staff and enable their success, if applicable. Financial Management/Administration
  • Maintain the financial health of NPSN by directing and managing the annual budget.
  • Seek, apply, and manage grants, or assist the organization in procuring this type of expertise.
  • Oversee accounting and reporting systems.
  • Maintain official records of the organization.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3-5 years' experience in nonprofit management as a volunteer or professional, especially fundraising, grant writing, charitable activities, community engagement, and/or public relations.
  • Familiarity with the nursing field and addiction recovery.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, nursing, or related field.
  • Excellence in organizational management with the ability to set and achieve strategic objectives and manage a budget.
  • Past success working with a Board of Directors.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. SALARY
  • $40,000
  • $60,000 per year, depending on experience, no medical or dental benefits offered.
