Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a RN Unit Manager, where you will lead and coordinate nursing operations within a specialized care unit. This pivotal role combines clinical expertise with leadership skills to ensure exceptional patient care, regulatory compliance, and team development. As a Nurse Unit Manager, you will oversee daily nursing activities, manage staff performance, and foster a collaborative environment that promotes high-quality outcomes for diverse patient populations. Your energetic approach and commitment to excellence will drive continuous improvement and uphold the highest standards of care delivery. RN required. Responsibilities Lead and supervise nursing staff, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols, policies, and healthcare regulations such as HIPAA and long-term care standards. Coordinate patient assessments, medical documentation, and care planning for individuals across various specialties including geriatrics, critical care, behavioral health, pediatrics, and acute care settings. Oversee the utilization review process and manage case coordination to optimize patient outcomes while maintaining compliance with state healthcare regulations. Ensure accurate medical records management using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth; monitor documentation quality and completeness. Conduct regular staff performance evaluations, facilitate ongoing education on topics such as
ICD-10/ICD-9
coding, infection control, medication administration, and sterile processing. Manage staffing schedules, supervise daily operations, and support team members in delivering patient-centered care with compassion and professionalism. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop discharge planning strategies, manage complex cases involving ventilators or catheterization procedures, and support families through dementia or Alzheimer's care. Qualifications Valid nursing license with current registration; previous nurse management or leadership experience required. Demonstrated expertise in critical care environments. Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth; familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and utilization management processes. Strong knowledge of hospital medicine practices including airway management, IV infusion/insertion techniques, catheter care, and sterile procedures. Experience supervising nursing teams within long-term care facilities or assisted living environments; familiarity with geriatrics and memory/dementia care essential. Excellent managerial communication skills to lead multidisciplinary teams effectively while ensuring compliance with healthcare laws such as HIPAA and long-term care regulations. Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments through vital signs measurement, physical examinations, specimen collection/processing, and diagnostic evaluation.
