Nursing Supervisor Job Description Overview We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursing Supervisor to lead our nursing team in providing exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background and proven leadership skills, ensuring that our nursing staff delivers high-quality services while adhering to best practices and regulatory standards. This role requires a commitment to patient advocacy, team management, and continuous improvement in healthcare delivery. Duties Oversee daily operations of the nursing department, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. Supervise nursing staff, providing guidance, support, and performance evaluations. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans. Conduct patient assessments and ensure accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Manage staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts. Facilitate training and development opportunities for nursing staff, including orientation for new hires. Monitor patient outcomes and implement quality improvement initiatives as needed. Ensure adherence to infection control protocols and safety standards within the facility. Participate in utilization review processes and case management discussions. Address patient and family concerns effectively, promoting a positive healthcare experience. Qualifications Current nursing license with relevant clinical experience in acute care settings such as hospitals or long-term care facilities. Experience in critical care, ICU, or emergency medicine preferred. Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and DRG classifications. Proven supervisory experience with a focus on team management and development. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including individuals with developmental disabilities or senior care needs. Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across disciplines. Knowledge of infection control practices, medication administration, phlebotomy, IV insertion, and basic life support techniques. Understanding of geriatric care principles, behavioral health issues, and pain management strategies.
