Job Type:
Permanent or Interim (Up to 12 months) Tired of sitting behind a desk all day in endless administrative meetings? We are seeking a clinical heavyweight who loves the fast-paced energy of the Cardiac Operating Room. If you are a hands-on CVOR Nurse Leader who wants to blend operational management with direct clinical impact, this is your floor to run. This cardiovascular surgical service line is looking for an empathetic, resilient leader to step away from pure desk duty, lead by example, and actively mentor a developing open-heart surgical team. What You'll Actually Do Mentor at the
Table:
Precept and train new nurses and surgical techs during complex CABG, valve, and TAVR cases right at the operating table. Lead the
Floor:
Direct and support 14+ FTEs (CVOR RNs, CSTs, Anesthesia Techs), driving clinical excellence, accountability, and team morale.
Fix Workflows:
Troubleshoot missing trays, streamline perfusion and sterile supply chains, and improve room turnover times.
Scrub In When Needed:
Maintain an active floor presence—step into cases when needed to provide breaks, cover staffing gaps, or stabilize the room during complex emergencies. Bridge the
Gap:
Act as the vital communication link between CVOR staff, surgeons, and surgical service administrators.
Must-Have Qualifications Clinical Experience:
5+ years of hands-on experience scrubbing or circulating complex open-heart / CVOR cases.
Leadership Experience:
3+ years in a working OR leadership role (Charge Nurse, Team Lead, Supervisor, or Manager).
Education:
BSN required (or Bachelor's degree if applying as a CST). MSN preferred.
Licensure:
Active Virginia RN License or valid Multi-State Compact License.
Certifications:
