Culinary Manager, School Nutrition

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
This person will assist the Director of School Nutrition and staff in upholding nutrition standards for the Culinary Operations in all schools while promoting and marketing the School Nutrition Program.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Registered Dietitian Preferred Culinary Degree or Certificate in Food Service Production and Management strongly preferred. ServSafe Safety and Sanitation Certified Completion of Orientation for Nutrition Employees within one year of hire (ONE - State Mandated class)
Experience:
Varied experience in School Nutrition Program of Food Service with progressively responsible duties successfully accomplished.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance. Prepare all required reports and maintain all appropriate records. Adheres to the standards of federal, state, and local regulations relating to food preparation, sanitation, and serving practices. Completes nutrition analysis of all menus to document compliance with USDA School Meals Regulations. Develop special diets needed for students. Coordinates promotions for new menu items and nutrition education events. Promote programs at school, district or community functions. Develops marketing tools and promotes the School Nutrition Program via various social media platforms Develop and implements nutrition education opportunities for students. Manages the USDA Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) by submitting monthly orders and creating required nutrition education materials. Coordinates Seamless Summer Option (SSO) program with community partners. Develops and distributes Seamless Summer marketing materials. Demonstrates exemplary customer service skills through effective communication with customers. Cooperates with faculty and staff in utilizing the cafeteria as a learning laboratory and maintaining a pleasant atmosphere for mealtimes. Develops and implements nutrition education and marketing materials for Georgia Grown events. Attends vendor shows to assist with menu and recipe development and decisions. Spearheads sustainability efforts within the department and in collaboration with district-wide efforts. Participates in staff development and related workshops as required. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of School Nutrition Program or designee.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
Basic arithmetic proficiency Basic computer skills (including Microsoft Office Suite) and ability to learn other computer software Ability to successfully collaborate with school personnel and students. Proven leadership ability. Knowledge of Food Services production through demonstration of same. Ability to organize and maintain a scheduled School Nutrition Program.
