Key Qualifications:

Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) or eligibility to obtain Experience working in a school or educational setting is highly valued Strong understanding of O&M assessment, lesson planning, and student goal development Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with students, staff, and families Commitment to fostering a supportive and adaptive learning environment

Responsibilities:

Manage a caseload of 7 students, providing direct orientation and mobility instruction tailored to each individual's needs and goals Offer consultative services for 2 additional students, supporting their teams with strategies and interventions Conduct assessments to develop individualized educational plans for students Teach techniques such as cane skills, street crossings, public transportation usage, and environmental awareness Keep thorough and timely documentation of sessions, progress, and outcomes Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and family members to maximize student success and inclusion Remain current on best practices in orientation and mobility and share resources with school staff In this rewarding position, you'll have the opportunity to witness firsthand the impact of your guidance as students gain new skills and confidence.
