(#1734)RESPONSIBILITIES OF OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST
- Evaluate the degree of function and disability of students.
- Evaluate, plan, program and provide occupational therapy services for students with disabilities, ages per NYSED guidelines.
- Development and implementation of IEP annual goals and objectives based on each student's needs or 504accommodation plans.
- Delivery of on-going occupational therapy services within program assignment in collaboration with parents, teachers, other school professionals, and appropriate community agencies/services.
- Participation on school/building/program teams and in staffing.
- Interaction with Committees on Special Education.
- Provide thorough and timely reporting consistent with the district assignment.
- Implementation of various service delivery models: individual, small group, integrative classroom, RtI, etc.
- Establish and maintain a daily schedule.
- Establish and maintain professional working relationships with school professionals, parents, students, and fellow colleagues within OT/PT Department.
- Attend departmental and program assignment meetings.
- Preparation of CSE packets as required by assignment.
- Maintain licensure through ongoing professional education.
- Complete daily documentation that complies with NYSED and Medicaid requirements.
- Develop a written prescription to be incorporated into the Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) for each student to receive therapy services.
- Provide occupational therapy services in accordance with the written prescription in the IEP.
- Develop and apply adaptive assistance devices and/or self-help techniques to achieve maximum independence.
- Participate in parent and teacher conferences.
- Prepare and maintain appropriate records.
- Establish and maintain communications with physicians and community agencies working with the students.
- Perform such other professionally related duties as may be required by the Administration.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR OT
- Must possess or meet requirements for Civil Service title of Occupational Therapist.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT FOR OT
- Ten-month position, Full-time; Probationary
- Compensation commensurate with experience
