Desired Qualifications:

Certification or eligibility as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) Experience working with children or youth in educational settings Understanding of assessment and instructional strategies for students with visual impairments Strong communication and collaboration abilities Ability to maintain accurate progress reports and develop individualized instructional plans

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct orientation and mobility assessments for students with visual impairments Develop and implement individualized instruction to address travel needs, orientation, and safety Teach travel skills tailored to school, home, and community settingsincluding cane skills, route planning, and street crossings Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and family members to support students goals Provide ongoing progress monitoring and adjust approaches based on student needs Offer resources and training to school personnel on creating accessible environments This role allows you to use your specialized skills in a rewarding way, helping students build independence for school and beyond. The contract type gives you flexibility while allowing you to focus on direct impact with students who rely on your expertise.
