Category Schools - Orientation and Mobility Specialist Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding role tailored for an experienced Orientation and Mobility Specialist ready to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students along the Southeast Texas Coast. This contract opportunity begins August 3, 2026, running through May 28, 2027, with approximately 20 hours per week anticipated. Your expertise will support a critical need in the region, serving a caseload and age groups determined after an upcoming executive discussion, ensuring your skills are matched to the areas that need them most. Use your specialized training to empower students with visual impairments, working closely with dedicated educators and administrators committed to fostering independence and confidence. This is your chance to help shape crucial learning environments within an area where skilled Orientation and Mobility Specialists are especially valued.

Ideal candidates will offer:

Active Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) Certification AVCREP Certification or equivalent Up-to-date Texas fingerprinting credentials, or a willingness to complete the process promptly Previous experience supporting school-aged students is highly preferred Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills Adaptability and professionalism when collaborating with multidisciplinary teams Key responsibilities include: Conducting thorough orientation and mobility assessments Designing and delivering individualized O&M instruction focused on travel skills and independent navigation Collaborating with educational staff and families to create effective, student-centered plans Documenting and reporting progress toward IEP goals and related objectives Traveling between assigned schools (assignments to be finalized soon) If you're ready for a part-time, impactful position that recognizes your expertise and responds to a significant regional need, consider this your invitation to make a real difference.
