9608423-78362 Job Description Make an impact by guiding students toward greater independence as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist. This contract opportunity offers a chance to support learners across the Southeast Texas Coast, helping address a significant need in the local school system. Working approximately 20 hours per week throughout the academic year, youll collaborate with educators and administrators to provide essential services for visually impaired students.
What Youll Bring:
Active Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) certification AVCREP certification or equivalent Experience supporting K-12 students with orientation and mobility strategies Familiarity with the unique needs of visually impaired learners in educational settings Strong communication and teamwork skills Quick adaptability to complete required Texas fingerprint credentialing (if not already processed)
Your Role:
Deliver direct instruction and individualized orientation and mobility training Assess student needs, design interventions, and document progress Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to create supportive educational plans Adapt strategies for students across varied age groups (caseload details forthcoming) Travel between assigned campuses as needed Provide expertise and recommendations to the district and student support teams
