Opportunity:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist (OT) to join a school district in Fredericksburg, Virginia. This contracted position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' academic success and daily functioning by providing occupational therapy services across a school-based setting. The caseload is currently being determined and may include students from Kindergarten through 12th grade.
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate students to determine occupational therapy needs related to educational performance. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and goals in accordance with IEP requirements. Provide direct and indirect occupational therapy services to students with a variety of physical, developmental, sensory, and functional needs. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and multidisciplinary team members to support student success. Maintain accurate documentation, progress reports, and Medicaid billing (if applicable). Participate in IEP meetings and provide recommendations regarding student accommodations and services. Monitor student progress and adjust treatment plans as needed. Consult with school staff regarding classroom modifications, adaptive equipment, and strategies to enhance student participation.
Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program. Active Virginia Occupational Therapist License or eligibility to obtain licensure. NBCOT certification preferred. Previous pediatric or school-based experience preferred, but not required. Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively with students across a diverse age range and disability spectrum.
