Secure Care Treatment Aide 1 positions provide excellent opportunities for advancement and growth. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply. Secure Care Treatment Aides care for patients with severe and persistent mental illness within an OMH secure intensive treatment unit or forensic facility.
Additional duties include:
- Observe and monitor patients
- Apply therapeutic techniques to stabilize patients
- Record notes on patient behaviors
- Apply physical restrains to patients as ordered by physician
- Maintain a secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (NY HELPS) program as a Secure Care Treatment Aide 1 (SCTA 1) if they have a high school diploma, High School Equivalency Diploma, or similar equivalency such as a General Education Development (GED) Certification or higher degree.
