Secure Care Treatment Aides care for patients with severe and persistent mental illness within an OMH secure intensive treatment unit or forensic facility.

Additional duties include:

• Observe and monitor patients
• Apply therapeutic techniques to stabilize patients
• Record notes on patient behaviors
• Apply physical restrains to patients as ordered by physician
• Maintain a secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (NY HELPS) program as a Secure Care Treatment Aide 1 (SCTA 1) if they have a high school diploma, High School Equivalency Diploma, or similar equivalency such as a General Education Development (GED) Certification or higher degree.

OR Candidates within State Service can be considered for transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. ($47,695), an Increase Hiring Rate ($6,144) and Geographic Pay Differential ($4,000). The posted job rate is the sum of the statutory job rate ($58,447) and Geographic Pay Differential ($4,000).
