It's what can make the difference between depending on someone else and doing something independently. You'll help patients safely navigate the routines that make up everyday life, including dressing, bathing, grooming, meal preparation, mobility, and other functional activities. The difference is that you'll provide those interventions in the exact environment where patients need to use them. That makes home health an incredibly practical setting for Occupational Therapy. One Patient. One Home. One Goal at a Time. Facility-based therapy can mean moving quickly between patients throughout the day. Home health has a different rhythm. When you arrive at a patient's home, that individual is your focus. You'll implement the treatment plan established by the supervising Occupational Therapist, evaluate how the patient is responding, provide hands-on interventions, educate caregivers, and identify opportunities to improve safety and independence. Then you'll head to your next patient and start fresh. For COTAs who enjoy variety, independence, and one-on-one relationships , it's a different way to build a therapy career. What You'll Be Doing Implement individualized OT treatment plans developed by licensed Occupational Therapists. Provide one-on-one treatment in patient homes. Address activities of daily living and functional independence. Guide patients through fine motor, strengthening, coordination, cognitive, and functional activities. Reinforce adaptive equipment recommendations and home modifications. Educate patients and families on safety and compensatory strategies. Monitor patient progress and communicate updates to the supervising OTR/L. Collaborate with nurses, PTs, PTAs, physicians, and other interdisciplinary clinicians. Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation. Already a COTA? Your Experience Can Translate to Home Health. We're interested in clinicians coming from Skilled Nursing, Inpatient Rehabilitation, Outpatient Therapy, Assisted Living, Memory Care, Transitional Care, Long-Term Care, and Home Health. Previous home health experience is preferred, but it isn't required for the right clinician. We're looking for a COTA who is dependable, organized, comfortable working independently, and passionate about helping patients maintain their independence.
