Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our dynamic healthcare team. Responsibilities Assist licensed occupational therapists in developing and executing individualized treatment plans tailored to each client's needs. Support clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including grooming, dressing, feeding, and mobility to enhance their independence. Implement therapeutic interventions for pediatric clients with childhood developmental delays and autism spectrum disorder, ensuring activities are engaging and effective. Facilitate patient care by assisting with patient transport within healthcare facilities and ensuring safe manual handling practices. Document care activities accurately and comprehensively in accordance with healthcare regulations and organizational standards. Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals such as physiotherapists, speech therapists, and physicians to optimize treatment outcomes. Provide care documentation that reflects progress, setbacks, and modifications to care plans as needed. Support patients across various settings including acute care units, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, and home health visits. Communicate effectively with clients and caregivers to explain treatment procedures, answer questions, and promote understanding of therapy goals. Maintain knowledge of medical imaging procedures when relevant to occupational therapy assessments or treatments involving physical or neurological conditions. Experience Prior experience working in inpatient settings such as hospitals or skilled nursing facilities is highly desirable. Demonstrated expertise in pediatric occupational therapy, particularly working with children experiencing neurodevelopmental delays or autism spectrum disorder. Proven track record supporting clients with disabilities across diverse populations including geriatrics and individuals recovering from injury or illness. Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and the use of medical imaging in diagnostic or treatment contexts. Experience working within outpatient clinics or home health environments is preferred to ensure versatile skill application. Knowledge of occupational health principles related to workplace safety and injury prevention is advantageous. Strong caregiver communication skills to educate families on therapy techniques and progress updates while fostering trust and collaboration.
