Working under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, the COTA will provide direct therapy services that help students develop the functional skills needed for academic success, independence, and participation in everyday school activities. The COTA will implement individualized treatment plans, document student progress, collaborate with educators and families, and support students in achieving their educational goals through evidence-based occupational therapy interventions. Responsibilities Provide direct occupational therapy services under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. Implement treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist. Assist students in developing fine motor skills, visual motor integration, handwriting, sensory processing, self-regulation, executive functioning, and activities of daily living. Utilize therapeutic activities and interventions that support student participation and success in the educational environment. Collaborate with teachers to implement classroom strategies and accommodations. Document daily treatment sessions and student progress in accordance with school, Medicaid, and company requirements. Participate in IEP meetings when requested by the supervising Occupational Therapist. Communicate student progress and recommendations with the supervising Occupational Therapist, school staff, and families. Maintain accurate documentation and comply with all state, federal, and company regulations. Collaborate with Speech-Language Pathologists, Physical Therapists, Special Education Teachers, School Psychologists, and school administration to support student success. Qualifications Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program. Current Arizona Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license (or eligibility for licensure). Current
NBCOT COTA
certification. Current CPR certification preferred. Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card (or ability to obtain). School-based pediatric experience preferred but not required. Knowledge of
IDEA, IEP
processes, and special education regulations is preferred. Experience working with sensory integration, autism spectrum disorders, developmental disabilities, and fine motor intervention is highly desirable. Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the supervising Occupational Therapist and multidisciplinary team.
