Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) - Help Residents Stay Independent At McCoy Memorial , Occupational Therapy is about helping residents hold on to the skills that make everyday life feel familiar, meaningful, and independent. We are looking for a compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our in-house therapy team and work directly with residents to improve function, confidence, and quality of life. The Impact You'll Make As a COTA , you will help residents: Improve independence with dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, and feeding Build strength, coordination, range of motion, and functional use of the upper extremities Practice safe transfers and functional daily activities Use adaptive equipment and compensatory strategies more effectively Improve cognition, sequencing, safety awareness, and participation in daily routines Maintain meaningful skills and reduce the amount of assistance needed from caregivers Working under the direction of an Occupational Therapist, you will carry out individualized treatment plans, monitor resident performance, communicate changes in function, educate residents and caregivers, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team. What We're Looking For Current COTA certification and South Carolina licensure Current CPR certification Strong communication and interpersonal skills A compassionate, resident-centered approach Ability to work well with geriatric and medically complex populations A team-oriented mindset and commitment to quality care Experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, rehabilitation, or geriatrics is preferred.
