Duties Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as dressing, grooming, and mobility exercises to foster independence. Implement tailored care plans developed by occupational therapists, ensuring each patient receives personalized therapy interventions. Support patients across various settings including inpatient units, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, and home health environments. Apply your knowledge of physiology and anatomy to help patients regain or improve functional abilities through therapeutic activities. Document patient progress accurately and communicate updates to the supervising occupational therapist to ensure optimal care adjustments. Educate patients and their families on therapeutic exercises and strategies for ongoing recovery or maintenance at home. Maintain compliance with medical terminology standards and safety protocols while delivering high-quality patient care. Qualifications Valid certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) from an accredited program. Prior experience working in skilled nursing facilities, inpatient hospital units, outpatient clinics, or home health settings is highly preferred. Strong understanding of medical terminology, physiology, and anatomy relevant to occupational therapy practices. Experience assisting with ADLs and implementing care plans for diverse populations including geriatrics and pediatrics. Knowledge of occupational health principles and ability to adapt interventions for acute care or outpatient environments. Excellent communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and educating patients effectively. Ability to work independently in inpatient or outpatient settings while adhering to safety standards and professional guidelines.
