Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will work closely with licensed occupational therapists to deliver high-quality patient care in a skilled nursing facility. Your expertise will help geriatric patients regain independence and improve their overall quality of life through tailored therapeutic interventions. Responsibilities Assist licensed occupational therapists in developing and implementing individualized care plans for patients. Support patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility exercises, fostering independence and confidence. Help evaluate patient progress by observing responses to therapy interventions and documenting outcomes accurately. Contribute to the preparation of treatment areas and ensure all equipment used complies with safety standards. Educate patients and their families on therapeutic exercises, safety techniques, and adaptive strategies to promote ongoing recovery. Maintain detailed records of patient care activities, progress notes, and communication with the healthcare team to ensure seamless continuity of care. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including physicians, nurses, speech therapists, and physical therapists—to optimize patient outcomes in acute care. Qualifications Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) from an accredited program. Experience working in inpatient settings such as hospitals or skilled nursing facilities is highly preferred. Strong understanding of medical terminology and healthcare documentation standards. Ability to assist with ADLs effectively while demonstrating patience and empathy for the geriatric population.
