Job Description
Job Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), where you will play a vital role in supporting clients across diverse settings to achieve their maximum independence and improve their quality of life. In this energetic and rewarding position, you will assist licensed occupational therapists in implementing personalized treatment plans, help clients develop essential skills, and promote overall well-being. Your dedication will directly impact our geriatrics patients including those with neurodevelopmental disorders, disabilities, or recovering from injury or illness. Responsibilities Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including dressing, grooming, and mobility tasks, ensuring safety and comfort during care. Support the implementation of treatment plans designed by occupational therapists, adapting techniques to meet individual needs. Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals such as physicians, speech therapists, and physical therapists to coordinate comprehensive care. Facilitate patient transport within facilities or to external appointments while maintaining proper manual handling techniques. Document care activities accurately, maintaining detailed care documentation and progress notes in compliance with healthcare regulations. Engage with patients in skilled nursing facilities to deliver consistent and compassionate care. Requirements Valid certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) from an accredited program. Prior experience working in inpatient settings, skilled nursing facilities, outpatient clinics, or home health is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of physiology and anatomy to support effective treatment implementation. Experience working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders, disabilities, is advantageous. Familiarity with medical terminology and medical imaging procedures relevant to occupational therapy practices. Ability to assist with ADLs and perform manual handling safely and effectively. Excellent communication skills for engaging with clients and caregivers to promote understanding and cooperation. Knowledge of care plans development and adherence for adult patient populations including geriatrics.
