Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in occupational therapy support, with experience working across various settings including inpatient, outpatient, skilled nursing facilities, and home health. As a COTA, you will assist licensed occupational therapists in delivering client-centered care to individuals of all ages, including pediatrics, geriatrics, and clients with neurodevelopmental or disabilities. Your role will be vital in implementing treatment plans, supporting patient recovery, and promoting independence through tailored interventions. Duties Assist licensed occupational therapists in developing and executing personalized care plans for clients with diverse needs, including childhood developmental delays, autism spectrum disorders, and neurorehabilitation. Support patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), manual handling, and mobility to enhance functional independence. Implement treatment strategies under supervision, ensuring adherence to prescribed protocols and safety standards. Facilitate patient transport within healthcare facilities or home environments to ensure seamless therapy sessions. Document care activities accurately and maintain comprehensive care documentation for legal and clinical purposes. Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals such as physiotherapists, speech therapists, and medical staff to optimize client outcomes. Communicate clearly with clients and caregivers to explain treatment procedures, progress updates, and care instructions. Utilize knowledge of physiology and anatomy to support therapeutic interventions tailored to individual needs. Skills Proven experience assisting with ADLs and implementing treatment plans in various healthcare settings such as inpatient units, outpatient clinics, or skilled nursing facilities. Strong understanding of medical terminology, medical imaging basics, and care documentation practices. Experience working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders, disabilities, or in pediatric occupational therapy contexts. Knowledge of pediatric occupational therapy techniques for clients with autism or childhood developmental delays. Familiarity with home health care procedures and occupational health protocols. Ability to perform manual handling safely while supporting patient mobility and transfers. Excellent caregiver communication skills to foster trust and understanding with clients' families. Geriatric care experience is advantageous for supporting older adults in geriatrics or skilled nursing environments. Competence in using physiology and anatomy knowledge to adapt therapy strategies effectively across age groups.
