Job Summary:
Under the direction of an Ophthalmologist, the Ophthalmology Technician provides technical services to assigned ophthalmic patients and assists in the examination and treatment of eye disorders. Takes patient history, conducts visual acuity screenings, and performs various technical procedures, including refractometry, tonometry and lensometry. Prepares patients for exams and procedures. Operates, maintains, and sanitizes ophthalmic equipment and instruments. Effectively utilizes Valley Children's systems, software and modules to perform job-related functions. Documents all pertinent information in a precise, clear manner. Functions as a patient care team member assisting licensed staff in the performance and provision of safe, service-oriented and efficient patient care.Qualifications:
Education High School Diploma/G.E.D. (required) Program Graduation from Ophthalmic Technology Program (preferred) Or Equivalent Experience Two (2) years in a similar role in lieu of patient care program (preferred) Licenses and Certifications BLS- Basic Life Support
- AHA•American Heart Association within 30 days of hire or transfer into position (required) COT•Certified Ophthalmic Technician (preferred) Or COA•Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (preferred) Work Experience Minimum six (6) months Providing direct patient care (preferred) Minimum one (1) year Assisting in a medical office or hospital (preferred) Skills and Abilities Bilingual Skills Preferred.
Compensation Range:
$25.36- $36.
