Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the optometrist and ensuring a smooth operation within the practice. This position involves a combination of clinical and administrative tasks, providing an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in the field of optometry. Responsibilities Assist the optometrist during eye examinations by preparing patients and equipment. Perform preliminary testing, including visual acuity tests and taking patient histories. Manage patient records, ensuring all medical records are accurate and up-to-date. Handle front desk duties such as scheduling appointments, answering phones, and greeting patients. Process insurance claims and manage medical billing as needed. Maintain inventory of optical supplies and assist with retail sales of eyewear products. Ensure compliance with medical terminology and coding standards in documentation. Provide education to patients regarding proper eye care and eyewear options. Requirements Knowledge of medical terminology related to optometry is essential. Familiarity with medical coding, billing, and retail math is preferred. Understanding of anatomy related to the eye and vision is beneficial. Experience with optical systems or medical office environments is a plus. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing medical records. Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients and team members. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism.
