An Ophthalmic Technician makes prescription eyeglasses and contact lenses by cutting and shaping lenses according to individual prescriptions. May make lenses for other optical equipment, such as telescopes or microscopes. Works in medical equipment manufacturing facilities and laboratories, retail stores, or in the offices of optometrists and physicians.

Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities Demonstrates a strong understanding of the critical importance of optical flatness in the polishing and grinding of telecom wafers and coupons. Inspect and prepare raw optical wafers Verify material specifications and cleanliness before processing optical glass Operate precision grinding equipment to thin wafers to required tolerances. Select appropriate grinding compounds, pads, and tooling based on material type Perform fine polishing to achieve required surface finish and flatness Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent Experience with networked PC based computer systems. Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) Skills Minium of 2 years working in a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably in the Telecom Industry. Demonstrates a strong understanding of the critical importance of optical flatness in the polishing and grinding of telecom wafers and coupons. Strong ability to work independently and manage priorities in a production environment. Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Working Conditions This role is 100% onsite Highly repetitive working conditions Swing shift 3:00pm
- 11:30pm PST shift deferential applies (Training for this position will occur on dayshift until fully trained) Due to the use of polishing compounds and loose abrasive compounds this job involves a moderately messy work environment.
