Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Optometric Technician, where you will assist in delivering comprehensive eye care from check-in to checkout and contribute to a smooth, welcoming clinical workflow. While prior optometric or ophthalmic technician experience is highly preferred, our priority is finding a candidate who has excellent interpersonal skills and is a quick learner with a high attention to detail. If you have a strong background in customer service, hospitality, or retail, a warm personality, and a sharp attention to detail, we are open and excited to train the right person. Responsibilities Prepare patients for eye examinations by collecting medical histories, updating intake forms, and explaining procedures clearly and confidently Perform vital signs assessments such as blood pressure, pulse, and ocular measurements to assist in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning Operate ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment including A-scan ultrasound devices, tonometers for intraocular pressure measurement, and other ophthalmic diagnostic tools following aseptic techniques Conduct ophthalmic patient examinations under supervision, including eye refraction, visual acuity testing, and basic ocular assessments Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR) systems accurately by documenting patient information, exam results, and clinical notes while maintaining strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies Assist with medical office tasks such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, submitting orders, and processing medical coding for billing purposes Maintain medical equipment hygiene and functionality through proper sterilization practices and routine checks to ensure safety and accuracy during exams Provide excellent patient service by addressing questions, ensuring comfort during procedures, and fostering a friendly environment that promotes trust and satisfaction Qualifications Prior experience in medical office settings or ophthalmology clinics is highly preferred; familiarity with EMR/EHR management is essential Knowledge of ophthalmology procedures including eye refraction, tonometry, A-scan ultrasound operation, and ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment Strong understanding of anatomy related to the eye and physiology principles relevant to eye health assessments Ability to perform intake procedures accurately while maintaining patient confidentiality at all times Competency in medical terminology related to eye care and general health conditions affecting vision Experience with retail sales or optical experience is a plus for understanding optical products and patient needs Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical procedures clearly to patients of diverse backgrounds This opportunity is perfect for motivated individuals eager to grow their career in eye care while providing top-tier service.
