OPHTHALMIC TECHNICIANRESPONSIBILITIES
- Asking patients about their symptoms and recording the information for the doctor.
- Performing preliminary exams and tests.
- Supporting the ophthalmologist during eye surgeries and procedures.
- Administering medications and topical treatments. Provide telephone support regarding ocular emergencies, patient care questions, and pharmacy refills as directed by Technician Manager.
- Examining test results and contributing to diagnostic discussions.
- Answering patients' questions and encouraging healthy habits.
- Writing, editing, and filing patient medical records.
OPHTHALMIC TECHNICIAN QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
Working knowledge of eye terminology, anatomy, pathologies, and ocular pharmacology. Carries out job responsibilities in an ethical, effective, and professional manner. Reports potential compliance issues to direct manager. Model ethical appropriate behavior, professional standards, compliance, and personal integrity. Understands and complies with policies and procedures, applicable rules, regulations, etc.- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate to patients of diverse backgrounds.
