At Alternate View, we are building a practice where eye health is elevated through comprehensive care, the latest technologies, and individualized service. While we are a new concept and office, we are backed by a well-established and impact-focused family business with over 80 years of experience caring for Hoosiers. We are looking for an Ophthalmic Technician who will play a crucial role in supporting our optometrist by performing various diagnostic tests, leading dry eye treatments, gathering client information, providing excellent customer service and ensuring efficient clinic operations.
Who You Are:
Our ideal Ophthalmic Technician is outgoing, detail-oriented, and up to date with the latest trends and technology. You are polished and professional with the ability to multi-task and develop trusted personal relationships. You will work closely with the doctor and Alternate View stylists to ensure each client is comfortable and their experience is enjoyable. Using top-of-the-line diagnostic devices, you will capture relevant client medical details, provide pre-testing and support the use of telemedicine. Responsibilities:
Assist the optometrist by conducting preliminary tests, assessments, and specialized testing Educate client on pre-test procedures; review Alternate View services and protocols Conduct dry eye screenings, addressing client questions and highlighting available treatments Be attentive to detail with experience in thorough documentation Maintain client records, including capturing thorough documentation in EHR Collaborate with Alternate View aesthetician to ensure a smooth client experience Willingness to learn about and recommend dry eye and aesthetic services confidently Adhere to professional standards, client confidentiality, and ethical guidelines in healthcare delivery Elevate and blend the eyecare and selfcare aspects together for a seamless relaxing experience that is like no other Tailor the client experience to exceed expectations and ensure a smooth customer journey Understand available products and services to help guide conversation during client journey, including prescription eyewear, contact lenses, nutraceuticals and dry eye products & services Provide services to repair damaged eyewear and routine maintenance tasks to extend the lifespan of the client' eyewear Support practice operations, including scheduling appointments, checking in clients, verifying insurance eligibility, answering phone calls, collecting payments, authorizing benefits and managing miscellaneous client inquiries Stay up to date with trends and technologies Maintain cleanliness and organization of office Efficient in using the following equipment: OPTOS Retinal Imaging Visual Field OCT Digital Phoropter Telemedicine Equipment Lensometer Autorefractor Tonometer Dry eye equipment including but not limited to IPL and radiofrequency device Other duties as assigned
Requirements :
Previous medical or pharmacy tech experience Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-focused approach Proficient in using technology, including ability to use iPad and navigate multiple windows for client information and accurate record-keeping Desire to stay up to date on industry insights, trainings, and opportunities to advance your skills Demonstrated proficiency and passion for relationship-building Innovative approach to problem solving and new ideas Incredible listener, with ability to capture thorough medical history and client info Ability to be empathetic and compassionate to clients' needs and concerns while providing a supportive and comfortable environment Skilled at adapting to clients, curating the appropriate questions to identify the client's needs Capable of easily partnering with team members to ensure the customer comes first Good sense of time management and ability to prioritize tasks Positive attitude and a willingness to strive for excellence Friendly demeanor and ability to remain calm and customer-focused in the face of challenges Availability to work hours of operation Benefits of Working with
