This is a hands-on, patient-facing position for someone who enjoys variety and takes pride in creating an efficient, welcoming experience from check-in through checkout. The ideal candidate is organized, comfortable learning new technology, and able to move smoothly between clinical, administrative, and optical responsibilities. Previous eye care or healthcare experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate. Key Responsibilities Optometric Technician Prepare examination rooms and patients for appointments. Record patient histories, medications, allergies, symptoms, and chief complaints. Perform preliminary testing, which may include visual acuity, lensometry, autorefraction, tonometry, retinal imaging, visual field testing, and other diagnostic procedures. Document information accurately in the electronic health record. Assist the optometrist with patient flow and clinical procedures. Clean, disinfect, and maintain instruments, equipment, and examination rooms. Educate patients on testing procedures, contact lens care, and provider instructions. Follow patient privacy, safety, and infection-control standards. Front Desk Greet patients and provide a professional, welcoming experience. Answer phones, schedule appointments, and respond to routine patient questions. Check patients in and out while confirming demographic and insurance information. Verify insurance eligibility and explain basic coverage when appropriate. Collect copays, deductibles, balances, and other patient payments. Scan documents, manage forms, and maintain accurate patient records. Help coordinate referrals, authorizations, record requests, and appointment reminders. Support efficient patient flow and communicate delays professionally. Optical Review vision plan benefits and provide transparent cost information. Enter and process eyewear orders accurately. Adjust, repair, dispense, and troubleshoot eyeglasses. Inspect completed eyewear for quality and prescription accuracy. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience in optometry, ophthalmology, optical retail, medical assisting, or a healthcare front office is preferred. Experience with electronic health records, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, or optical sales is a plus. Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills. Comfortable handling payments and discussing costs with patients. Ability to multitask and remain professional in a busy clinical environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient confidentiality. Basic computer proficiency and willingness to learn practice-specific systems. Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team.

Pay:

$15.00 - $18.00 per hour
