POSITION SUMMARY
The Ophthalmic Technician aids ophthalmologists by obtaining medical histories, performing preliminary eye function testing and explaining to patients about medication or procedures, preparing the patient for the exam and beginning the examination with standard tests and measurements. Daily duties include taking patient histories and assessments, making note of findings in patients' charts. Clean and sterilize instruments for procedures. Scheduling patients for surgery. Have the knowledge and skills to use the following equipment: Tonometer, slit lamp, Visual Field, OCT, and Fundus Camera.
