Boston University Eye Associates are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. Our Ophthalmic Technicians assist in various clinical tasks, ensuring a smooth workflow and enhancing the overall patient experience. The ideal technician must be able to perform appropriate clinical testing such as Visual Acuity Testing, Visual Field Testing, Refraction, Pupil Assessment, Tonometry, Gross External Examination and eye drop instillation. Knowledge of eye anatomy, disease, symptoms and ocular medications is a plus. Boston University Eye Associates is an ophthalmology group practice which consists of 4 optometrists and 13 ophthalmologists. We are a multi-specialty practice providing services from comprehensive eye exams, to complex eye disease treatment and surgery. We service the south shore area with 4 locations, Taunton, Brockton, Middleboro and an Ambulatory Surgery Center in Raynham. Responsibilities Conduct preliminary eye exams and gather patient medical history. Perform testing and evaluation to prepare the patient for doctors exam including visual acuity, color vision testing, tonometry, lensometry, Amsler grid, pupil evaluation and evaluation to prepare the patient for doctors exam. Assist ophthalmologists during examinations and procedures. Maintain accurate medical records and update patient information in the clinic's systems. Educate patients on pre-operative and post-operative care instructions. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care. Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and calibrated. Support sales of eyewear or other optical products when necessary. Obtain ophthalmic history from patient including the presenting complaint, past ocular history, illnesses, medications, allergies and reactions to drugs, etc. Prepare examination and treatment rooms Administer eye drops Knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to the eye is preferred. Previous experience in an ophthalmology clinic or similar healthcare setting is a plus. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are necessary for maintaining accurate medical records. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients and team members.
