This position combines optical expertise with hands-on optometric technician responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who enjoys variety and takes pride in providing excellent patient care. Duties This role will allocated as 80% in an optician capacity, and 20% in a technician capacity. Provide knowledgeable, personalized optical service and assist patients with frame and lens selection. Analyze and interpret individual prescriptions to make individualized recommendations for ophthalmic lenses. Assist optometrists during eye examinations by preparing patients and managing clinical equipment including Retinal OCT, Corneal Topography, Axial Length, Retinal Photography, Tonometry and Visual Acuity. Manage patient records using EMR/EHR systems while maintaining strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and medical privacy policies Provide excellent customer service by guiding patients through frame selections, explaining lens options, and troubleshooting lens issues. Skills Strong knowledge of ocular principles, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to eye care. Familiarity with health regulation policies such as HIPAA, state healthcare regulations, and clinical confidentiality policies. Optical experience including spectacle lens dispensing, eyewear fittings, frame adjustments, and laboratory procedures. Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems for accurate documentation Excellent customer service skills and a compassionate, individualized approach to healthcare.
