Parkside Eye Care is seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our growing clinical team. In this role, you will be the primary bridge between our patients and doctors, guiding patients through their preliminary testing, facilitating seamless exam room transitions, and delivering a warm, high-end care experience. Whether you are an experienced optometric technician, medical assistant, or a service-driven professional looking to enter the eye care field, we provide comprehensive training on our advanced diagnostic technology.

Key Responsibilities Pre-Testing & Diagnostics:

Perform preliminary testing, including taking visual acuity, auto-refraction/keratometry, I-care tonometry, visual fields, digital retinal imaging (fundus photography/OCT), and lensometry.

Patient Workup & Charting:

Escort patients to exam rooms, record detailed medical/ocular histories, verify current medications and allergies, and accurately input pre-testing findings into the electronic health record (EHR) system.

Doctor Exam Assistance:

Assist optometrists during exams, administer diagnostic drops as directed, and scribe or document exam details accurately.

Contact Lens Services:

Guide first-time and experienced contact lens wearers through Insertion and Removal (I&R) training, maintain contact lens trial inventory, and handle diagnostic lens orders. Also able to quote patients for contact lens pricing.

Clinical Flow & Efficiency:

Maintain exam room cleanliness, sanitize diagnostic equipment between patients, stock clinical supplies, and ensure a prompt daily schedule.

Patient Communication:

Clearly explain testing procedures to ease patient anxiety and educate patients on post-exam instructions or doctor-recommended follow-ups.

Qualifications & Skills Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required (Associates or bachelor's degree is a plus).

Experience:

Prior experience as an optometric technician, ophthalmic assistant, or medical assistant preferred; cross-training will be provided for candidates with strong customer service and administrative backgrounds.

Technical Aptitude:

Comfortable learning advanced diagnostic equipment and navigating EHR systems quickly and accurately.

Interpersonal Skills:

Exceptional communication, empathy, and a polished, professional demeanor suitable for a modern private practice.

Detail-Oriented:

Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Certification:

CPO, CPOA, or CPOT certification is a strong plus, but not required. Competitive hourly compensation (starting at $20/hour) based on experience.
