The ideal candidate will support ophthalmologists by providing exceptional patient care, managing medical records, and assisting with clinical procedures. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic ophthalmology practice, utilizing your skills in patient intake, vital signs, and medical documentation to improve patient outcomes. Experience with EMR systems such as NextGen and knowledge of ophthalmic procedures are highly valued. Duties Greet patients and assist with check-in and check-out processes at the front desk Collect patient histories and perform intake assessments in accordance with HIPAA regulations Measure vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen saturation levels Prepare patients for examinations by performing necessary tests and assessments Assist ophthalmologists during exams and procedures, ensuring aseptic technique is maintained Operate and troubleshoot optical equipment and assist with optical measurements Document clinical notes accurately in EMR systems such as NextGen or other electronic health records Manage medical records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA standards Support billing and coding processes related to ophthalmology services Provide patient education on eye health, medications, and post-procedure care Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment adhering to safety protocols Qualifications Prior experience in medical office settings or clinic experience preferred; experience in ophthalmology is a plus Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and ophthalmic procedures Familiarity with EMR systems such as NextGen or other electronic health record platforms Understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach to diverse patient populations including pediatrics Ability to perform intake assessments, vital sign measurements, and basic clinical tasks accurately Knowledge of aseptic technique and infection control practices in a clinical setting Retail sales experience or retail math skills are beneficial for patient product recommendations or optical sales Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing medical records and documentation This position provides an engaging opportunity for individuals passionate about eye health and patient care within a professional healthcare environment.
