About the Position We are opening a new, independent optometry practice in Wharton, NJ and are looking for a friendly, dependable, and motivated Optometric Technician to join our team. This position will play an important role in both patient care and the day-to-day operations of the practice, including pre-testing, diagnostic testing, contact lens training, scheduling, and billing. The ideal candidate is personable, organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about providing an excellent patient experience. Previous optometric, ophthalmic, medical, or optical experience is preferred. Responsibilities Greet patients and provide a warm, professional experience Schedule and confirm patient appointments Assist with insurance verification and billing Obtain patient medical and ocular history Perform pre-testing and diagnostic testing Assist the optometrist with patient care and eye examinations Train patients on proper contact lens insertion and removal Maintain accurate patient records and enter information into the electronic health record Help keep the office clean, organized, and running efficiently Qualifications Previous optometry, ophthalmology, medical, or optical experience preferred Experience with pre-testing, diagnostic equipment, contact lenses, scheduling, or insurance billing is a plus Strong communication and interpersonal skills Friendly, professional, and patient-focused Dependable, organized, and detail-oriented Comfortable learning new technology and equipment Ability to multitask and work independently Willingness to learn and grow with a new practice Compensation $18-$21 per hour , depending on experience and qualifications.
