ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Experience with diagnostic testing equipment including fundus camera, OCT, visual field, UMB, IOL Master, A & B Scans Excellent customer service and communication skills Empathetic personality and attention to patient's needs Consistent friendly and upbeat demeanor Management of multiple tasks simultaneously Strong problem-solving skills Strong computer skills Ability to work as a team member Strong organizational skills with attention to detail Individual who takes pride in his/her work and our practice Respectful treatment of patients and co-workers Demonstrated comprehension of the ophthalmic technician skills as outlined by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology Demonstrated ability to perform comprehensive work-ups on 4-5 patients per hour in electronic medical records and train other technicians to do so Efficiently and accurately interviews patients and documents history Demonstrated working knowledge of eye anatomy, disease, symptoms, ocular medications and testing. Utilizes proper eye drop technique, proper sterility technique and takes universal precautions Understands and follows procedures for surgical and procedural consents

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School diploma, some college preferred. Three to five years experience as an ophthalmic technician. Valid proof of certification as an ophthalmic technician.
