Triad Eye Institute is seeking a dynamic Lead Ophthalmic Technician to play a pivotal role in the efficient operation of our ophthalmology practice. Reporting directly to the Clinic Administrator at the Tulsa 2 location, you will be the heartbeat of our clinical floor. You will oversee and manage our site-specific technician staff, ensure day-to-day patient care processes run seamlessly, and drive clinic flow management. Team:
Supervise, motivate, and guide technical staff to achieve optimal performance. Build the
Roster:
Assist in recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new technical personnel. Develop and oversee robust training programs.
Manage Schedules:
Handle staff scheduling based on clinic needs, approve time-off requests, and lead regular technical team meetings.
Patient Care & Clinic Flow Optimize Workflow:
Ensure smooth patient flow, determine the order of patient testing, and conduct regular quality assurance checks.
Hands-On Care:
Prepare patients for appointments by conducting preliminary exams, reviewing medical histories, and performing routine vision screening and diagnostic testing.
Educate & Assist:
Educate patients on eye health and treatment plans. Assist physicians during minor surgical and laser procedures, and administer prescribed eye medications.
Patient Communication:
Promptly address patient questions, handle scheduling phone calls, and provide backup support for prescription refills.
Operations & Administration Equipment Management:
Clean and maintain ophthalmic instruments, troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment, and schedule preventative maintenance.
Inventory & Safety:
Maintain clinical supply inventory levels, manage compliance with OSHA policies, and actively participate in the Safety Committee.
Accurate Documentation:
Maintain precise records of patient visits using our Electronic Health Records (EHR) system.
Who You Are Experienced Professional:
You have previous experience in ophthalmology or a related field. (Certified Ophthalmic Technician - COT or equivalent certification is highly preferred).

You have a proven ability to work effectively in a supervisory capacity, easily adapting to changing clinic needs while supporting a positive work environment.

You are highly proficient in using ophthalmic instruments, computer systems, and EHR software. Physical Requirements To successfully perform the essential functions of this role, candidates should possess:
Visual & Auditory Acuity:
Clear vision for patient assessment and reading medical records, alongside adequate hearing for effective communication.
Hand/Eye Coordination:
Steady hands for precise, delicate tasks, handling instruments, and administering medications.
Mobility & Stamina:
The ability to stand, walk, and move around a fast-paced clinic for extended periods. Must be physically fit enough to lift/move equipment and supplies (up to 25 lbs) and occasionally assist patients.
