In this vital role, you will assist with ophthalmic examinations, manage electronic health records, and support the optometry team in delivering exceptional eye care services. Responsibilities Prepare patients for eye examinations by obtaining medical histories, updating intake forms, and recording vital signs such as blood pressure, and visual acuity. Operate ophthalmic diagnostic equipment including Visual Fields,Fundus Photos, A-scans for axial length measurements, and ophthalmic imaging devices to assist in accurate diagnoses. Assist the optometrist during eye refraction procedures and ophthalmic examinations, ensuring smooth workflow and patient comfort. Maintain strict adherence to clinical confidentiality policies and HIPAA regulations while managing electronic health records (EHR/Epic systems) with precision and accuracy. Support patient service efforts by explaining procedures, answering questions, and ensuring a welcoming environment. Handle medical records management, including documentation of clinical notes, billing codes, and ensuring compliance with medical coding standards. Ensure all medical equipment is operated safely using aseptic techniques and proper sterilization protocols to maintain a sterile environment. Requirements Prior experience in a medical office setting or optometry clinic is highly preferred; familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Crystal is a plus. Knowledge of optometric procedures including eye refraction, tonometry, visual field testing, and ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment operation. Understanding of medical terminology related to eye anatomy, physiology, and clinical procedures. Ability to perform vital signs measurement accurately and support direct patient care activities with professionalism. Excellent patient service skills with a focus on maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA standards.
