Duties Assist with patient intake processes, including collecting medical history and verifying insurance information in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Prepare patients for ophthalmic examinations by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort throughout the process. Operate ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment such as tonometry devices, retina imaging, visual field testing to assist in comprehensive eye assessments. Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR/EHR) management by documenting clinical notes, test results, and patient interactions securely. Support optometrists during eye refraction tests, anterior segment examinations, and other diagnostic procedures while adhering to aseptic techniques. Manage medical records with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring all documentation complies with clinical confidentiality policies and maintains patient privacy at all times. Assist in the operation of medical equipment, ensuring proper calibration and safety protocols are followed for optimal performance. Provide excellent patient service by addressing questions, scheduling follow-up appointments, and fostering a positive clinic experience. Qualifications Prior experience in a medical office setting or optical environment is preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality is essential. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR/EHR) management systems and ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment is highly desirable. Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy related to the eye, and physiology principles relevant to ophthalmology. Ability to operate medical equipment such as tonometers, A-scan biometry devices, and other ophthalmic tools safely and effectively. Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient service and direct patient care delivery. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills; capable of managing medical records accurately while adhering to clinical confidentiality policies.
