The role You'll work directly alongside the ophthalmologist as the clinical backbone of each patient visit — performing diagnostic testing, prepping patients for exams and procedures, and keeping the clinical flow moving without ever making a patient feel rushed. What you'll do Perform preliminary exams: visual acuity, refractions, tonometry, and other diagnostic testing Administer diagnostic and dilating eye drops per physician direction Take and record patient history; document accurately in eyeMD EMR Prepare and maintain ophthalmic instruments and equipment; assist with in-office procedures Assist with surgical scheduling handoffs — confirming pre-op testing is complete and documented Educate patients on drop regimens, post-procedure care, and what to expect What we're looking for Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or higher preferred; will consider strong Medical Assistant or LPN candidates willing to pursue COA certification 1+ years in an ophthalmology or optometry clinical setting strongly preferred Comfortable performing diagnostic testing independently and working at a fast clinical pace Clear, warm communicator — you'll be explaining clinical information to anxious or unfamiliar patients regularly Benefits PTO, paid sick leave, 401(k), health insurance Why Bellasee Physician-owned and growing — direct mentorship, not shift work in a hospital system Work alongside surgical and aesthetic services, broadening your clinical scope A practice that invests in staff development and certification
