Pannu Laser & Vision Institute is looking for a Clinical Optometrist to join our established ophthalmology and refractive surgery practice in Davie, Florida. This is a unique opportunity for an optometrist interested in developing expertise in LASIK and refractive surgery while continuing to provide medical eye care.
The position is approximately:
75% Refractive Surgery / LASIK Care 25% Medical Eye Care You will work closely with our ophthalmic surgeon and clinical team in a professional, patient-focused environment. Refractive Surgery & LASIK Care - Approximately 75% Your responsibilities will include: Performing comprehensive clinical evaluations of patients considering LASIK and other refractive procedures. Performing refractions and comprehensive ocular examinations, including dilated examinations when appropriate. Evaluating and managing dry eye and ocular surface conditions that may affect surgical outcomes. Educating patients about LASIK, PRK, SMILE, ICL, and other vision-correction options, including expectations, risks, benefits, and alternatives. Providing preoperative clinical evaluations and identifying patients who may require additional evaluation. Working closely with the ophthalmic surgeon regarding surgical candidates. The surgeon personally reviews Pentacam/corneal tomography and makes final surgical candidacy determinations. Providing postoperative care following LASIK, PRK, SMILE, ICL, and other refractive procedures. Managing routine postoperative visits and addressing postoperative concerns or complications. Evaluating patients who may require refractive enhancements and coordinating their care with the surgeon. Participating in premium lens and refractive cataract evaluations and postoperative care. This is a clinical position, not a sales position. You will educate patients and provide clinical guidance. Our dedicated laser counselor handles procedure pricing, financing, scheduling, and the administrative aspects of the patient's decision. Medical Eye Care - Approximately 25% Perform comprehensive medical eye examinations. Diagnose and manage common ocular conditions and pathology. Evaluate and manage dry eye and ocular surface disease. Evaluate glaucoma suspects and other medical eye conditions. Provide appropriate care for patients with diabetes and other systemic conditions affecting the eyes. Identify patients who may benefit from ophthalmic surgical treatment and coordinate their care with the ophthalmic surgeon. Provide appropriate follow-up and ongoing medical eye care. Active, unrestricted Florida Optometry license. Strong clinical skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to explain medical and surgical concepts clearly to patients. Genuine interest in refractive surgery and advanced vision correction. Professional, personable, and comfortable working as part of a close clinical team. Prior refractive surgery or surgical co-management experience is a plus, but we are also open to motivated new graduates with strong clinical skills and an interest in refractive surgery. Experience with dry eye and ocular surface disease is a plus. Bilingual English/Spanish is a strong asset for our South Florida patient population, but is not required.
