Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Optometrist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of ophthalmic care, patient diagnosis, and treatment, with a strong commitment to delivering exceptional patient service. As an Optometrist, you will be responsible for conducting thorough eye examinations, diagnosing visual and ocular health conditions, and providing appropriate treatments or referrals. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patients' quality of life through expert eye care and personalized solutions. Responsibilities Perform detailed ophthalmic examinations, including assessment of visual acuity, refraction, and ocular health evaluations using advanced diagnostic imaging equipment. Diagnose and manage a variety of eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and other disease states related to eye health. Conduct contact lens fittings and provide guidance on lens selection, care, and maintenance tailored to individual patient needs. Utilize medical equipment such as tonometers for intraocular pressure measurement and other diagnostic tools to support accurate assessments. Maintain comprehensive medical records in electronic medical record (EMR) or electronic health record (EHR) systems in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Educate patients on eye health, disease prevention, treatment options, and the importance of regular eye examinations. Collaborate with healthcare professionals for complex cases requiring specialized ophthalmic consultations or referrals. Ensure adherence to aseptic techniques during examinations and procedures to uphold safety standards. Manage patient flow efficiently while delivering high-quality customer service and fostering positive client communication. Requirements Valid licensure as an Optometrist with relevant state or regional certification. Proven experience in ophthalmology or optometry practice with proficiency in optical experience and ophthalmic diagnosis. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy related to the eye, and medical terminology pertinent to eye care. Experience operating ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment, tonometry devices, and other medical equipment used in eye examinations. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for accurate documentation of medical records and billing purposes. Knowledge of disease state management including common ocular conditions and treatment protocols. Ability to perform comprehensive ophthalmic patient examinations with attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent client communication skills with a focus on patient education and customer service excellence. Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and security of patient information. Additional skills such as medical coding, sales experience related to optical products, or experience in pediatrics are advantageous but not mandatory.
