Responsibilities Conduct thorough ophthalmic patient examinations, including visual acuity testing, tonometry, and assessment of ocular health using ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment Perform contact lens fitting and provide guidance on lens care and maintenance Diagnose eye conditions and disease states related to ophthalmology, utilizing medical terminology and physiology knowledge Manage disease progression through appropriate medical treatment plans and patient education Operate medical equipment safely and accurately, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques and HIPAA regulations for patient privacy Document detailed medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) or EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems, including vital signs and ophthalmic diagnostic results Communicate effectively with patients, explaining diagnoses, treatment options, and preventive care strategies while fostering positive client relationships Requirements Valid licensure as an Optometrist with current certification to practice in the relevant jurisdiction Proven experience in ophthalmology or optometry, including ophthalmic diagnosis and disease management Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems, medical coding, and HIPAA compliance standards Hands-on experience with tonometry, contact lens fitting, and ophthalmic examinations Excellent client communication skills with a focus on customer service and patient education Ability to operate medical equipment safely while maintaining aseptic technique during procedures Knowledge of healthcare diagnosis, treatment protocols, and disease state management in eye care Embark on a meaningful career where your expertise directly impacts patients' vision health.
